Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Cosplay Production Day

Picture Journal.

Today, we (Benji, Astrid and I) had a cosplay day where we all gathered at my place at 11am to work on our SSBB cosplays. Benji is being Bowser and Astrid and myself the Ice Climbers.

So first we took a trip to the local IGA to get some cardboard for Benji's shell and some food.

We didn't start working till 12pm

Anyway, I had already started on my mallet so it was half done and I continued to finish it throughout the day.

HERE IS SOMETHING I PREPARED EARLIER:

Benji had fun with the hot glue gun which he discovered was hot.

Astrid had fun paper mache-ing and painting her mallet.

The first spike on the Shell of Win.

Astrid finished painting the mallet and put it in the candle holder.

The Shell of Win with all it's glorious spikes! Yet to be finished though.

Myself cutting out the pattern for my IC coat.

Sewing the jacket the wrong way. ><" But it looked fine anyway. ^^ Like my Doctor Who badge on my vest?

I should get a photo of my jacket sleeve with furry on it. Bear with me for a few minutes.

Tah daaaah!

And if you look at the ice climber picture you shall see it is everywhere, and I have to hand sew it all on because I am not letting it near my machine. It does not have a death wish.

Anyway, that was my productive day. ^^
